Upper Avon Valley

• The Swan, Enford SN9 6DD (01980 670338) Thatched pub owned by the village and with great atmosphere. Serves local Stonehenge Ales. Closed Sunday evening and Monday.
• The Red Lion, East Chisenbury SN9 6AQ (01980 671124) Husband and wife team produce exceptional innovative versions of traditional English food. Open daily.

Woodford Valley

• The Bridge, Upper Woodford SP4 6NU (01722 782323) Delightful riverside garden. Wide range of seasonal food served. Open daily.
• The Wheatsheaf, Lower Woodford SP4 9NQ (01722 782203) Hall & Woodhouse pub with extensive dining, plus large garden and children’s play area. Open daily.

Near Stonehenge

• The Boot, Berwick St James SP3 4TN (01722 790243) Close to Stonehenge and A303, serving traditional English fare.  Great garden for lunches. Closed Sunday and Monday evenings.
• The Maldives, Larkhill SP4 8PY (01980 654666) Forget the military surroundings — this is probably the best Indian restaurant outside of Salisbury. Open daily.

• At Solstice Park, Amesbury, next to A303, there are a Harvester pub, Pizza Hut, KFC, and Holiday Inn, all within a mile of The Dovecot.
